New Research from AERDF and ETS Reveals Decoding Threshold is a Key Barrier to Reading Proficiency in Older K-12 Students

David serves as the Director of Engineering and Data for Assessment for Good. In his role, he leads product, infrastructure, AI, and data platform engineering teams, along with data governance and data analytics teams.

David has over nine years of experience in education technology software engineering, spanning management, application architecture, and full stack development. He also has over nine years of experience in enterprise software user experience engineering, spanning design, research, and usability testing. Prior to joining the Assessment For Good team, he served as an Engineering Manager at Chan Zuckerberg Initiative where he led a diverse team of software engineers responsible for K12 differentiated learning. He also served as the Lead Application Architect for IBM Watson Education, a cloud-based AI application for K12 educators.

David holds a master’s degree in Education Technology Design from Stanford University Graduate School of Education, an MBA from University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, and a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from University of California at Berkeley.
