New Research from AERDF and ETS Reveals Decoding Threshold is a Key Barrier to Reading Proficiency in Older K-12 Students

Maxim Vickerie is a veteran teacher certified in Secondary Education Math. His more than nine years of teaching experience in urban schools allow him to create lasting relationships with students, staff and parents. His enthusiasm for sharing the joys of math is surpassed only by the joys of students finally understanding a concept they long considered “impossible”. In addition to teaching, Vickerie has served as the lead math instructor and mentor to high school students participating in the Upward Bound Program. Using technology and a positive instruction style infused with 21st century skills, he worked with students to increase their SAT scores by an average of 145 points. Vickerie holds a BS in Math from Morehouse College and an MS in Statistical Computing from the University of Central Florida.
