Michelle Tiu is the Co-Executive Director for the EF+Math Program. Prior to joining EF+Math, she was the Director of Educational Technology within the Learning and Technology team at WestEd. While there, she directed a portfolio of work related to the research and evaluation of educational technology resources and oversaw partnerships with numerous edtech developers. She led WestEd’s portfolio of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. Additionally, Tiu served as the PI for the National Educational Technologies Activities work funded by the Office of Educational Technology, as the Project Director for WestEd’s research partnership with NewSchools Venture Fund’s Ignite Learning Challenges, and as a lead researcher on two rounds of the US Department of Education’s Ready To Learn educational television and digital media grant. Tiu began her career as a high school mathematics teacher, teaching at a charter school in Hayward, CA and at an international school in Hong Kong. She earned her SB from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her EdM in Teaching and Curriculum from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
